It was defined in February 2009. Category 6A is defined for frequencies up to 500 MHz– twice as many as cat. 6. Category 6A operates with improved specifications, in particular in the foreign interrogation area, compared to cat. 6 UTP (unscreened strand), which showed high foreign noise at high frequencies. The main issue is the efficiency difference between the ISO/IEC component specifications and the EIA/TIA for the NEXT transmission parameter.
