Bratislava deviates significantly from the stereotype of the ,,Slovak city", which is widespread among Poles visiting the northern part of the country. While even in smaller centres, life on the streets dies after dark (and sometimes even earlier), the country's capital is moving until late night hours - numerous cafes, restaurants and pubs are open, the sights are perfectly illuminated, and every now and then the Danube flows a lit ,,a trip" full of guests playing on board. In the season when the streets of the Old Town are full of tourists, the atmosphere resembles almost Mediterranean cities. Slovaks, with a large dose of autoironia sometimes laugh that Bratislava is the only coastal city between the Alps and Carpathians.
