The author presented in a competent and erudite manner the problem of social and political development of Iraq after the 2003 intervention. The work includes reflections on both the local and international consequences of the Iraqi conflict and the long-term processes of building a post-war society, considered in the context indicated in the title of the civil society issue. It was indicated on cultural-civilization and historical determinants of this process, focusing on the specifics and distinctness of Arab societies. The author, while preparing her work, showed great maturity, competence and analytical thinking skills, which allows for a high evaluation of her work.Dr Wiesław Lizak, ISM UW
