Rapid storage expansion with RAID support The TR-004 model is the ideal solution to expand the storage of computers, especially for laptops that cannot be replaced with a larger disk. With four SATA 3.5-inch slots and RAID configuration support, the TR-004 allows you to store huge amounts of files and data while providing protection against potential disk failure. Support for several RAID levels The TR-004 supports various RAID configurations. Depending on your needs, you can choose either hardware or software RAID control. The DIP switches allow you to set RAID mode best suited to your needs: single disks, JBOD group, RAID 0, RAID 1/10 or RAID 5. RAID settings can also be configured from a QNAP NAS or with QNAP External RAID Manager on your computer. Flexible mass storage management and configuration Unlike many other RAID enclosures, the TR-004 enables software configuration control, which gives maximum management flexibility. You can use the Storage and Snapshot Manager on QNAP NAS or QNAP External RAID Manager on your PC to configure RAID arrays and monitor the fitness of disks. Use TR-004 instead of conventional NAS expansion enclosures As an external RAID enclosure, the TR-004 is a fully autonomous device and does not use any additional system resources of the NAS. Compared to the UX-500P expansion module, the TR-004 is significantly less loady on the NAS system. External memory for NAS Instead of using the TR-004 to expand your QNAP NAS capacity, you can use it as an additional storage for backup or data transfer. This allows, among other things, physical migrations of huge data sets without overloading the network. When the TR-004 is connected to the NAS, you can monitor its fitness and status in the Storage Manager and snapshots on the NAS. Cross-platform file sharing The TR-004 enclosure is compatible with various devices — from NAS to Windows, Mac and Linux computers. This makes it ideal for transferring large files between different devices. The TR-004 is compatible even with devices using exFAT* file system, which further increases the convenience of downloading and sharing files from a wider range of devices.
